Way of the Cross – Booklet

Relive Christ’s Passion!  Relieve Christ’s Passion!

“I love Thee, my beloved Jesus; I repent with my whole heart for having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always; and then do with me what Thou wilt.” St. Alphonsus Liguori

Way of the Cross for Life and Our Lady’s Part in the Redemption

The Way of the Cross is the most heavily indulgenced devotion in the Catholic Church. There is a tradition that Our Lady herself set up the original Way of the Cross outside of her home at Ephesus.

Many saints agree that meditation on the passion and death of Jesus is the most fruitful meditation. St. Alphonsus’ prayers for the Way of the Cross are a beloved way to re-live and relieve the suffering of Christ.

This Way of the Cross for Life was designed to be prayed in a three-hour procession.

The Stations of the Cross

According to the Method ofSt. Alphonsus Liguori

Let each one, kneeling, make an Act of Contrition, and form the intention of gaining the indulgences connected to this devotion, whether for himself or for the souls in Purgatory. Then say:

PREPARATORY PRAYER

My Lord Jesus Christ, Thou hast made this journey to die for me with love unutterable, and I have so many times unworthily abandoned Thee; but now I love Thee with my whole heart, and because I love Thee, I repent sincerely for having ever offended Thee. Pardon me, my God, and permit me to accompany Thee on this journey. Thou goest to die for love of me; I wish also, my beloved Redeemer, to die for love of Thee. My Jesus, I will live and die always united to Thee.

FIRST STATIONJesus is Condemned to Death.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider that Jesus, after having been scourged and crowned with thorns, was unjustly condemned by Pilate to die on the cross.

People: My adorable Jesus, it was not Pilate, no, it was my sins that condemned Thee to die. I beseech Thee, by the merits of this sorrowful journey, to assist my soul in its journey towards eternity. I love Thee, my beloved Jesus; I love Thee more than myself; I repent with my whole heart of having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord was condemned to death by the lies of a few and the silence of the majority. Heavenly Father, we wish to make reparation for the times we were silent when we should have spoken out against abortion. Please help us to speak the truth with courage and love, and to bring others to understanding.

Priest and People: Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be… O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are most in need of Thy mercy.

Priest: The Story of the Blessed Mother’s Part in the Redemption I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed.

People: She shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel. (Gen. 3:15)

Priest: The Fall & Prophecy Now the serpent was more subtle than any of the beasts of the earth which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman: Why hath God commanded you, that you should not eat of every tree of paradise? And the woman answered him, saying: Of the fruit of the trees that are in paradise we do eat. But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of paradise, God hath commanded us that we should not eat, and that we should not touch it, lest perhaps we die. And the serpent said to the woman: No, you shall not die the death. For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And the woman saw that the tree was good to eat, and fair to the eyes, and delightful to behold, and she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave to her husband, who did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and when they perceived themselves to be naked, they sewed together fig-leaves, and made themselves aprons. And when they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in paradise at the afternoon air, Adam and his wife hid themselves from the face of the Lord God, amidst the trees of paradise. (Gen. 3: 1-8)

SECOND STATIONJesus is Made to Carry His Cross.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider that Jesus, in making this journey with the cross on His shoulders, thought of us and offered for us to His Father the death that He was about to undergo.

People: My most beloved Jesus, I embrace all the tribulations that Thou hast destined for me until death. I beseech Thee, by the merits of the pain Thou didst suffer in carrying Thy cross, to give me the necessary help to carry mine with perfect patience and resignation. I love Thee, Jesus, my love; I repent of having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord embraced his cross, an unjust punishment from a government which He had not disobeyed. Heavenly Father, we wish to make reparation for the leaders and voters who allow the death of the innocent. Please help us to change all earthly laws that conflict with Thy Heavenly laws.

Priest and People: Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be… O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are most in need of Thy mercy.

Priest: The Story of the Blessed Mother’s Part in the Redemption (Cont.) I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed.

People: She shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel. (Gen 3:15)

Priest: The Fall and Prophecy And the Lord God called Adam, and said to him: Where art thou? And he said: I heard Thy voice in paradise; and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself. And He said to him: And who hath told thee that thou was naked, but that thou hast eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat? And Adam said: The woman, whom Thou gavest me to be my companion, gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the Lord God said to the woman. Why hast thou done this? And she answered. The serpent deceived me, and I did eat. And the Lord God said to the serpent: Because thou hast done this thing, thou art cursed among all cattle, and beasts of the earth. Upon thy breast shalt thou go, and earth shalt thou eat all the days of thy life. I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed. She shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel. To the woman also he said: I will multiply thy sorrows, and thy conceptions; in sorrow shalt thou bring forth children, and thou shalt be under thy husband’s power, and he shall have dominion over thee. (Gen. 3:9-16)

THIRD STATIONJesus Falls the First Time.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider this first fall of Jesus under His cross. His flesh was torn by the scourges, His head crowned with thorns, and He had lost a great quantity of blood. He was so weakened that He could scarcely walk, and yet He had to carry this great load upon His shoulders. The soldiers struck Him rudely, and thus He fell several times in His journey.

People: My beloved Jesus, it is not the weight of the cross, but of my sins, which has made Thee suffer so much pain. Ah, by the merits of this first fall, deliver me from the misfortune of falling into mortal sin. I love Thee, O my Jesus, with my whole heart; I repent of ever having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord fell to the ground beneath the weight of our sins. Heavenly Father, in thought, word, or deed we have fallen into the very sins that lead to abortion. We wish to make reparation for ourselves and others who have contributed to this tragedy. Please help us to be pure and to purify our world.

(Gen 3:15)

Priest: The Fall and Prophecy And to Adam He said: Because thou hast hearkened to the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee, that thou shouldst not eat, cursed is the earth in thy work; with labour and toil shalt thou eat thereof all the days of thy life. Thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee, and thou shalt eat the herbs of the earth. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thou return to the earth out of which thou wast taken; for dust thou art, and into dust thou shalt return. And Adam called the name of his wife Eve, because she was the mother of all the living. And the Lord God made for Adam and his wife garments of skins, and clothed them. And He said: Behold Adam is become as one of us, knowing good and evil; now therefore lest perhaps he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever. And the Lord God sent him out of the paradise of pleasure, to till the earth from which he was taken. And He cast out Adam, and placed before the paradise of pleasure Cherubims, and a flaming sword, turning every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. (Gen. 3:7-24)

MEDITATIONS ON THE NEW WORLD ORDER [UNDER CONSTRUCTION]

Quotes from the Douay-Rheims Bible on DRBO.org

The words of Our Lady in the Magnificat

Luke 1:48…from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed…[51] …He hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. [52] He hath put down the mighty from their seat…[53] and the rich He hath sent empty away

[FOOTNOTE FROM THE DOUAY LUKE 1:48] “Shall call me blessed”: These words are a prediction of that honour which the church in all ages should pay to the Blessed Virgin. Let Protestants examine whether they are any way concerned in this prophecy.

NOAHGenesis Chapter 6[6:5] And God seeing that the wickedness of men was great on the earth, and that all the thought of their heart was bent upon evil at all times, [6] It repented him that he had made man on the earth. And being touched inwardly with sorrow of heart, [7] He said: I will destroy man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth, from man even to beasts, from the creeping thing even to the fowls of the air, for it repenteth me that I have made them. [8] But Noe [Noah] found grace before the Lord. [9] These are the generations of Noe: Noe was a just and perfect man in his generations, he walked with God. [10] And he begot three sons, Sem, Cham, and Japheth. [11] And the earth was corrupted before God, and was filled with iniquity. [12] And when God had seen that the earth was corrupted (for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth,) [13] He said to Noe: The end of all flesh is come before me, the earth is filled with iniquity through them, and I will destroy them with the earth. [14] Make thee an ark of timber planks. [15] And thus shalt thou make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits: the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits….[17] Behold I will bring the waters of a great flood upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, under heaven. All things that are in the earth shall be consumed. [18] And I will establish my covenant with thee, and thou shalt enter into the ark, thou and thy sons, and thy wife, and the wives of thy sons with thee…Genesis Chapter 7[7:1] And the Lord said to him: Go in thou and all thy house into the ark: for thee I have seen just before me in this generation.

B: [7] And Noe went in and his sons, his wife and the wives of his sons with him into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. [10] And after the seven days were passed, the waters of the flood overflowed the earth.C:[11] … all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the flood gates of heaven were opened: [12] And the rain fell upon the earth forty days and forty nights…[16] And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in on the outside. [17] And the flood was forty days upon the earth, and the waters increased, and lifted up the ark on high from the earth…[19] And the waters prevailed beyond measure upon the earth: and all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered… [22] And all things wherein there is the breath of life on the earth, died. [23] And he destroyed all the substance that was upon the earth, from man even to beast, and the creeping things and fowls of the air: and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noe only remained, and they that were with him in the ark…Genesis Chapter 8[13] Noe opening the covering of the ark, looked, and saw that the face of the earth was dried…. [20] And Noe built an altar unto the Lord: and taking of all cattle and fowls that were clean, offered holocausts upon the altar.[21] And the Lord smelled a sweet savour, and said: I will no more curse the earth for the sake of man: for the imagination and thought of man’s heart are prone to evil from his youth: therefore I will no more destroy every living soul as I have done.

Genesis Chapter 9[1] And God blessed Noe and his sons. And he said to them: Increase and multiply, and fill the earth. [2] And let the fear and dread of you be upon all the beasts of the earth, and upon all the fowls of the air, and all that move upon the earth: all the fishes of the sea are delivered into your hand… [13] I will set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be the sign of a covenant between me, and between the earth. [14] And when I shall cover the sky with clouds, my bow shall appear in the clouds: [15] And I will remember my covenant with you, and with every living soul that beareth flesh: and there shall no more be waters of a flood to destroy all flesh….

Genesis Chapter 10: Lineage of Nimrod. The establishment of the New World Order.[5] By these were divided the islands of the Gentiles in their lands, every one according to his tongue and their families in their nations.[FOOTNOTE 5] “The islands”: So the Hebrews called all the remote countries, to which they went by ships from Judea, to Greece, Italy, Spain, etc.[6] And the sons of Cham: Chus [Cush/Kush], …[8] Now Chus begot Nemrod [Nimrod]: he began to be mighty on the earth. [9] And he was a stout hunter before the Lord. Hence came a proverb: Even as Nemrod the stout hunter before the Lord.[Footnote 9] “A stout hunter”: Not of beasts but of men: whom by violence and tyranny he brought under his dominion. And such he was, not only in the opinion of men, but before the Lord, that is, in his sight who cannot be deceived.[10] And the beginning of his kingdom was Babylon, and Arach, and Achad, and Chalanne in the land of Sennaar. [21] Of Sem also, the father of all the children of Heber, the elder brother of Japheth, sons were born.

Genesis Chapter 11: Nimrod Challenges GodGod’s Punishment at the Tower of Babel[1] The earth was of one tongue, and of the same speech. [2] And when they removed from the east, they found a plain in the land of Sennaar [Shinar], and dwelt in it. [3] And each one said to his neighbour: Come, let us make brick, and bake them with fire. And they had brick instead of stones, and slime instead of mortar.[4] And they said: Come, let us make a city and a tower, the top whereof may reach to heaven: and let us make our name famous before we be scattered abroad into all lands. [5] And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of Adam were building.

God’s Decision to Have Nations, and Not a One-World Order[6] And he said: Behold, it is one people, and all have one tongue: and they have begun to do this, neither will they leave off from their designs, till they accomplish them in deed. [7] Come ye, therefore, let us go down, and there confound their tongue, that they may not understand one another’s speech. [8] And so the Lord scattered them from that place into all lands, and they ceased to build the city. [9] And therefore the name thereof was called Babel, because there the language of the whole earth was confounded: and from thence the Lord scattered them abroad upon the face of all countries.[FOOTNOTE 9] “Babel”: That is, confusion.

Lineage from Heber, Father of the Hebrews, to Abraham Father of the Covenant [15] And Sale…begot Heber [the father of the Hebrews]…[16] And Heber…begot Phaleg….[18] Phaleg…begot Reu…[20] And Reu…begot Sarug…[22] And Sarug…begot Nachor…[24] And Nachor…begot Thare….[26] And Thare…begot Abram [or Abraham, who begot Ishmael and Isaac [Israel]]…[29] And…the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai [Sarah]…[30] And Sarai [Sarah] was barren, and had no children [until God delivered her with Isaac]

BROTHER FRANCIS SAID THAT THE ARAB NICKNAME FOR THE JEWS IS “COUSINS.”

SINCE THE NATIONS WERE AGAINST YAHWEH AND FELL INTO IDOLATRY, THEY WERE GEARED UP TO KILL JEWS AND OTHER MONOTHEISTS AND HAVE BEEN DOING SO EVER SINCE

[31] And Thare took Abram, his son, and Lot the son of Aran, his son’s son, and Sarai [Sarah] his daughter in law, the wife of Abram his son, and brought them out of Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Chanaan: and they came as far as Haran, and dwelt there…Genesis Chapter 12[1] And the Lord said to Abram: Go forth out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and out of thy father’s house, and come into the land which I shall shew thee. [2] And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and magnify thy name, and thou shalt be blessed. [3] I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee, and IN THEE shall all the kindred of the earth be blessed: [4] So Abram went out as the Lord had commanded him

Genesis Chapter 16[1] Now Sarai [Sarah] the wife of Abram, had brought forth no children [2] She said to her husband: Behold, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: go in unto my handmaid, it may be I may have children of her at least. And when he agreed to her request…[3] She took Agar the Egyptian her handmaid, ten years after they first dwelt in the land of Chanaan, and gave her to her husband to wife. [4] And he went in to her. But she [Hagar], perceiving that she was with child, despised her mistress…[5] And Sarai said to Abram: Thou dost unjustly with me: I gave my handmaid into thy bosom, and she perceiving herself to be with child, despiseth me. The Lord judge between me and thee. [6] And Abram made answer, and said to her: Behold thy handmaid is in thy own hand, use her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai afflicted her, she ran away. [7] And the angel of the Lord having found her, by a fountain of water in the wilderness, which is in the way to Sur in the desert, [8] He said to her: Agar, handmaid of Sarai, whence comest thou? and whither goest thou? And she answered: I flee from the face of Sarai, my mistress.

[9] the angel of the Lord said to her [Agar/Hagar]:… [10]…I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, and it shall not be numbered for multitude. [11] And again: Behold, said he, thou art with child, and thou shalt bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Ismael, because the Lord hath heard thy affliction. [12] He shall be a wild man: his hand will be against all men, and all men’s hands against him: and he shall pitch his tents over against all his brethren.

Genesis Chapter 17 [20] And as for Ismael I have also heard thee. Behold, I will bless him, and increase, and multiply him exceedingly: he shall beget twelve chiefs, and I will make him a great nation. [21] But my covenant I will establish with Isaac [Israel].

Meditation on Nimrod’s Hatred of God…(By building the tower Nimrod protested the Flood for destroying the earth with water)

FOURTH STATIONJesus Meets His Sorrowful Mother.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider the meeting of the Son and the Mother, which took place on this journey. Jesus and Mary looked at each other, and their looks became as so many arrows to wound those hearts which loved each other so tenderly.

People: My most loving Jesus, by the sorrow Thou didst experience in this meeting, grant me the grace of a truly devoted love for Thy most holy Mother. And thou, my Queen, who wast overwhelmed with sorrow, obtain for me by thy intercession a continual and tender remembrance of the Passion of thy Son. I love Thee, Jesus my love; I repent of ever having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord met His Mother on His way to execution. Her heart was pierced with sorrow to see her Child about to die. Heavenly Father, we wish to make reparation for mothers who send their children to die, sight unseen. Please help us awaken their maternal love.

(Gen 3:15)

Priest: The Annunciation And in the sixth month, the Angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the name of the virgin was Mary. And the Angel being come in, said to her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women. But she having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be. And the Angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God. Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call his name, Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High, and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David, his father, and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end. And Mary said to the Angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man? And the Angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee, shall be called the Son of God. And behold thy cousin, Elizabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren, because no word shall be impossible with God. And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word. And the Angel departed from her. (Luke 1: 26-38)

FIFTH STATIONSimon of Cyrene Helps Jesus to Carry His Cross.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider that the Jews, seeing that at each step Jesus, from weakness, was on the point of expiring, and fearing that He would die on the way, when they wished Him to die the ignominious death of the cross, constrained Simon the Cyrenian to carry the cross behind Our Lord.

People: My most sweet Jesus, I will not refuse the cross as the Cyrenian did; I accept it, I embrace it. I accept in particular the death that Thou hast destined for me, with all the pains which may accompany it. I unite it to Thy death; I offer it to Thee. Thou hast died for love of me! I will die for love of Thee, and to please Thee. Help me by Thy grace. I love Thee, Jesus my love; I repent of ever having offended Thee. Never permit me to separate myself from Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Simon the Cyrenean was forced to help Our Lord carry His cross. Heavenly Father, we wish to make reparation for the times when we were unwilling to help mothers and fathers bear the burdens of a troubled pregnancy. Please help us to take up this cross eagerly.

(Gen 3:15)

Priest: The Visitation And Mary rising up in those days, went into the mountainous country with haste, into a city of Juda. And she entered into the house of Zachary, and saluted Elizabeth. And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost. And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold as soon as the voice of the salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed art thou that hast believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord. And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God, my Saviour. Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid, for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done great things to me, and holy is his name. And his mercy is from generation to generations, to them that fear him. He hath shewed might in his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the humble. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent away empty. He hath received Israel, his servant, being mindful of his mercy. As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed, for ever. And Mary abode with her about three months; and she returned to her own house. (Luke 1:39-56)

SIXTH STATIONVeronica Wipes the Face of Jesus.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider that the holy woman named Veronica, seeing Jesus so afflicted and His face bathed in sweat and blood, presented Him with a towel, with which He wiped His adorable face, leaving on it the impression of His holy countenance.

People: My most beloved Jesus. Thy face was beautiful before, but in this journey it has lost all its beauty, and wounds and blood have disfigured it. Alas! my soul also was once beautiful, when it received Thy grace in Baptism, but I have disfigured it since by my sins. Thou alone, my Redeemer, canst restore it to its former beauty. Do this by Thy Passion, O Jesus. I repent of having offended Thee. Never permit me to offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Veronica honored Our Lord when others despised Him. Heavenly Father, we wish to make reparation for the times we have rejected Jesus when we met Him in the person of an unmarried mother. A sinful act can cause a pregnancy, but pregnancy itself is never a sin. Please help us to honor the dignity of motherhood in every pregnant woman.

(Gen 3:15)

Priest: The Nativity And it came to pass, that in those days there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that the whole world should be enrolled. This enrolling was first made by Cyrinus, the governor of Syria. And all went to be enrolled, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his espoused wife, who was with child. And it came to pass that when they were there, her days were accomplished, that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her first-born Son, and wrapped Him up in swaddling-clothes, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:1-7)

SEVENTH STATIONJesus Falls the Second Time.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider the second fall of Jesus under the cross – a fall which renews the pains of all the wounds of the head and members of our afflicted Lord.

People: My most gentle Jesus, how many times Thou hast pardoned me, and how many times have I fallen again, and begun again to offend Thee! Oh, by the merits of this new fall, give me the necessary helps to persevere in Thy grace until death. Grant that in all temptations which assail me I may always commend myself to Thee. I love Thee, Jesus, my love, with my whole heart; I repent of having offended Thee. Never permit me to offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord fell again during His painful journey to Calvary. Heavenly Father, we wish to make reparation for the times we have fallen back into sin. If we have conquered any sin of our past, please help us to stay watchful that we may not return to it. In ancient times many nations sacrificed their children for good fortune. Please help us to save our nation from returning to this evil practice.

(Gen 3:15)

Priest: The Nativity And there were in the same country Shepherds, watching, and keeping the night-watches over their flock. And behold an Angel of the Lord stood by them, and the brightness of God shone round about them, and they feared with a great fear. And the Angel said to them: Fear not, for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, that shall be to all the People: For this day is born to you a Saviour, who is Christ, the Lord, in the city of David. And this shall be a sign unto you. You shall find the Infant wrapped in swaddling-clothes, and laid in a manger. And suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace to men of good will. And it came to pass that after the Angels departed from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another: Let us go over to Bethlehem, and let us see this word that is come to pass, which the Lord hath shewed to us. And they came with haste; and they found Mary and Joseph, and the Infant lying in a manger. And seeing, they understood of the word that had been spoken to them concerning this Child. And all they that heard wondered; and at those things that were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these words, pondering them in her heart. (Luke 2:8-19)

EIGHTH STATIONJesus Falls the Second Time.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider that those women wept with compassion at seeing Jesus in so pitiable a state, streaming with blood, as He walked along. But Jesus said to them, “Weep not for Me, but for your children.”

People: My Jesus, laden with sorrows, I weep for the offenses that I have committed against Thee, because of the pains which they have deserved, and still more because of the displeasure which they have caused Thee,       Who hast loved me so much. It is Thy love, more than the fear of Hell, which causes me to weep for my sins. My Jesus, I love Thee more than myself; I repent of having offended Thee. Never permit me to offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord met the women of Jerusalem who lamented over Him. Heavenly Father, we wish to make reparation for those who call on women to take pride in the right to kill their children. Please help us to inspire pride in women’s unique power to share in Thy creativity by giving life.

(Gen 3:15)

Priest: The Presentation And after the days of her purification, according to the law of Moses, were accomplished, they carried Him to Jerusalem, to present Him to the Lord. As it is written in the law of the Lord, that every male opening the womb shall be called holy to the Lord. And to offer a sacrifice, according as it is written in the law of the Lord, a pair of turtle-doves, or two young pigeons. And behold there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Ghost was in him. And he had received an answer from the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Christ of the Lord. And he came by the spirit into the temple. And when his parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law. He also took Him into his arms, and blessed God and said: Now thou dost dismiss thy servant, O Lord, according to Thy word, in peace. Because my eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast prepared before the face of all People: A light to the revelation of the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people, Israel. And His father and mother were wondering at these things which were spoken concerning Him. (Luke 2:22-33)

NINTH STATIONJesus Falls the Third Time.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider the third fall of Jesus Christ. His weakness was extreme, and the cruelty of His executioners excessive, who tried to hasten His steps when He had scarcely strength to move.

People: Ah, my outraged Jesus, by the merits of the weakness that Thou didst suffer in going to Calvary, give me strength sufficient to conquer all human respect and all my wicked passions, which have led me to despise Thy friendship. I love Thee, Jesus, my love, with my whole heart; Never permit me to offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord fell yet again due to His long ordeal. Heavenly Father, we wish to make reparation for those who die fallen away from Thee. Help us to save ourselves and other sinners from eternity without Thee. Help us to save the unborn from dying before they can be cleansed of original sin, and from an eternity of incomplete union with Thee. It is Thy will that all be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.

(Gen 3:15)

Priest: The Presentation And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, His mother: Behold, this child is set for the ruin, and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be contradicted. And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed. And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser; she was far advanced in years, and had lived with her husband seven years from her virginity. And she was a widow until fourscore and four years; who departed not from the temple, by fastings and prayers serving night and day. Now she at the same hour coming in, gave praise to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all that looked for the redemption of Israel. (Luke 2:34-38)

TENTH STATIONJesus is Stripped of His Garments.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider the violence with which the executioners stripped Jesus. His inner garments adhered to His torn flesh, and they dragged them off so roughly that the skin came with them. Compassionate your Saviour thus cruelly treated, and say to Him:

People: My innocent Jesus, by the merits of the torment which Thou hast felt, help me to strip myself of all affection to things of earth, in order that I may place all my love in Thee, Who art so worthy of my love. I love Thee, Jesus, my love, with my whole heart; I repent of having offended Thee. Never permit me to offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord was stripped of the robes that His mother had made for Him. We have thrown away our robes of baptismal innocence. Heavenly Father, we wish to make reparation for the immodesty and vulgarity that contribute to the culture of abortion. Please help us to create a new spirit of purity.

(Gen 3:15)

Priest: The Finding in the Temple And his parents went every year to Jerusalem, at the solemn day of the Pasch. And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem, according to the custom of the feast. And after they had fulfilled the days, when they returned, the child, Jesus, remained in Jerusalem, and His parents knew it not. And thinking that He was in the company, they came a day’s journey, and sought Him among their kinsfolks and acquaintance. And not finding Him, they returned into Jerusalem, seeking Him. And it came to pass, that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, hearing them, and asking them questions. And all, that heard Him, were astonished at His wisdom, and His answers. And seeing Him, they wondered. And His mother said to Him: Son, why hast Thou done so to us? Behold, Thy father and I have sought Thee, sorrowing. And He said to them: How is it that you sought Me? Did you not know, that I must be about the things that are my Father’s? And they understood not the word that He spoke unto them. And He went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And His mother kept all these words in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom, and age, and grace with God and men. (Luke 2:41-52)

ELEVENTH STATIONJesus is Nailed to the Cross.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider that Jesus, after being thrown on the cross, extended His hands, and offered to His eternal Father the sacrifice of His life for our salvation. These barbarians fastened Him with nails, and then, raising the cross, left Him to die with anguish on this infamous gibbet.

People: My Jesus, loaded with contempt, nail my heart to Thy feet, that it may ever remain there to love Thee and never quit Thee again. I love Thee more than myself; I repent of having offended Thee. Never permit me to offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord was nailed to the cross through His holy hands and feet. His agony lasted three hours, but He never cried out. We wish to make reparation for all who participate in the painful, silent death of the innocent unborn. Thou didst love us while we were yet sinners; please help us reach out in love to sinners and never become inflamed with hate.
(Gen 3:15)
Priest: The Wedding Feast at Cana And the third day there was a marriage in Cana, of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. And Jesus also was invited, and His disciples, to the marriage. And the wine failing, the mother of Jesus saith to Him: They have no wine. And Jesus saith to her: Woman, what is it to Me and to thee? My hour is not yet come. His mother saith to the waiters: Whatsoever He shall say to you, do ye. Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three measures a-piece. Jesus saith to them: Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And Jesus saith to them: Draw out now, and carry to the chief steward of the feast. And they carried it. And when the chief steward had tasted the water made wine, and knew not whence it was, but the waiters knew who had drawn the water, the steward calleth the bridegroom, and saith to him: Every man at first setteth forth good wine, and when men have well drank, that which is worse. But thou hast kept the good wine until now. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana, of Galilee, and He manifested his glory, and his disciples believed in Him. (John 2:1-11)

TWELFTH STATIONJesus is Raised Upon the Cross and Dies.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider how thy Jesus, after three hours of agony on the cross, consumed at length with anguish, abandons Himself to the weight of His body, bows His head, and dies.

People: O my dying Jesus, I kiss devoutly the cross on which Thou didst die for love of me. I have merited by my sins to die a miserable death, but Thy death is my hope. Ah, by the merits of Thy death, give me grace to die, embracing Thy feet and burning with love for Thee. I commit my soul into Thy hands. I love Thee, Jesus, my love, with my whole heart; Never permit me to offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord died on the cross because of our own sins. His life was the price of our redemption. Heavenly Father, Thou gavest life to each of us in our mother’s womb. We wish to make reparation for those who throw away this gift. Please help us to preserve the precious lives which Thou hast created.

(Gen 3:15)

Priest: Jesus Gives Mary to Us All Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus, therefore, saw His mother, and the disciple standing, whom He loved, He saith to His mother: Woman, behold thy son. After that, He saith to the disciple: Behold thy Mother. And from that hour the disciple took her to his own. (John 19:25-27) And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. And being with child, she cried travailing in birth, and was in pain to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven, and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his head seven diadems. (Apoc. 12:1-3)

THIRTEENTH STATIONJesus is Taken Down from the Cross and Placed in the Arms of His Mother.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider that Our Lord having expired, two of His disciples, Joseph and Nicodemus, took Him down from the cross and placed Him in the arms of His afflicted Mother, who received Him with unutterable tenderness and pressed Him to her bosom.

People: O Mother of Sorrow, for the love of this Son, accept me for thy servant, and pray to Him for me. And Thou, my Redeemer, since Thou hast died for me, permit me to love Thee; for I wish but Thee, my Jesus, and I repent of having offended Thee. Never permit me to offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord’s lifeless body was taken down from the cross and placed in the arms of His sorrowful mother. Heavenly Father, we wish to make reparation for ourselves and others who have contributed to the death of the innocent by our action or inaction. Please help us to be effective in saving lives and souls.

(Gen 3:15)

Priest: The Woman Clothed with the Sun And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth; and the dragon stood before the woman, who was ready to be delivered, that, when she should be delivered, he might devour her Son. And she brought forth a Man Child, who was to rule all nations with an iron rod; and her son was taken up to God, and to His throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared by God, that there they should feed her a thousand two hundred and sixty days. And there was a great battle in heaven. Michael and his Angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon fought, and his angels. And they prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven. And that great dragon was cast out, the old serpent, who is called the devil, and Satan who seduceth the whole world, and he was cast forth unto the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying: Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ, because the accuser of our brethren is cast forth, who accused them before our God day and night. (Apoc. 12:4-10)

FOURTEENTH STATIONJesus is Laid in the Sepulchre.

Priest: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee, (genuflect)

People: Because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world.

Priest: Consider that the disciples carried the body of Jesus to bury it, accompanied by His holy Mother, who arranged it in the sepulchre with her own hands. They then closed the tomb, and all withdrew.

People: Ah, my buried Jesus, I kiss the stone that encloses Thee. But Thou didst rise again the third day. I beseech Thee, by Thy Resurrection, make me rise glorious with Thee at the Last Day, to be always united with Thee in Heaven, to praise Thee and love Thee forever. I love Thee, and I repent of having offended Thee. Never permit me to offend Thee again. Grant that I may love Thee always, and then do with me what Thou wilt.

Priest: Our Lord’s body was reverently buried by His holy mother. Heavenly Father, we wish to make reparation for those who simply discard the bodies of the unborn. Please help us to honor these bodies which will rise up again in glory.

(Gen 3:15)

Priest: The Woman Clothed with the Sun And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto death. Therefore, rejoice, O ye heavens, and you that dwell therein. Woe to the earth, and to the sea, because the devil is come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he hath but a short time. And after the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman, who brought forth the Man Child. And there were given to the woman, two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the desert to her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth, after the woman, water, as it were a river; that he might cause her to be carried away by the river. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the river, which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was angry against the woman; and went to make war with the rest of her seed, who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Apoc. 12:11-17)

CONCLUDING PRAYER

Heavenly Father, let us join Thy Son as He makes reparation for our sins and those of the whole world. Send us Thy Holy Spirit to help us teach others that there is no contradiction between “Choice” and “Life” when we freely “Choose Life”. Please help us to end the taking of innocent human lives, and to renew a true respect for Thy precious gift of life. Mother of Sorrows, pray for us sinners.

Consecration of Oneself to Jesus Christ, Wisdom Incarnate, Through the Hands of Mary

Eternal and incarnate Wisdom, most lovable and adorable Jesus, true God and true Man, only Son of the eternal Father and of Mary always Virgin, I adore Thee profoundly, dwelling in the splendor of Thy Father from all eternity and in the virginal womb of Mary, Thy most worthy Mother, at the time of Thine Incarnation.

I thank Thee for having emptied Thyself in assuming the condition of a slave to set me free from the cruel slavery of the devil.

I praise and glorify Thee for having willingly chosen to obey Mary, Thy holy Mother, in all things, so that through her I may be Thy faithful slave of love. But I must confess that I have not kept the vows and promises which I made to Thee so solemnly at my baptism. I have not fulfilled my obligations, and I do not deserve to be called Thy child or even Thy slave.

Since I cannot lay claim to anything except what merits Thy rejection and displeasure, I dare no longer approach the holiness of Thy majesty on my own. That is why I turn to the intercession and the mercy of Thy holy Mother, whom Thee Thyself hath given me to mediate with Thee. Through her I hope to obtain from Thee contrition and pardon for my sins, and that Wisdom Whom I desire to dwell in me always.

I turn to thee, then, Mary Immaculate, living tabernacle of God, in whom Eternal Wisdom willed to receive the adoration of both men and angels.

I greet thee as Queen of heaven and earth, for all that is under God has been made subject to thy sovereignty.

I call upon thee, the unfailing refuge of sinners, confident in thy mercy that has never forsaken anyone.

Grant my desire for divine Wisdom and, in support of my petition, accept the promises and the offering of myself, which I now make, conscious of my unworthiness.

I, ____(NAME)_____, an unfaithful sinner, renew and ratify today through thee my baptismal promises. I renounce forever Satan, his empty promises, and his evil designs, and I give myself completely to Jesus Christ, the incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him for the rest of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have been till now.

This day, with the whole court of heaven as witness, I choose thee, Mary, as my Mother and Queen, I surrender and consecrate myself to thee, body and soul, as thy slave, with all that I possess, both spiritual and material, even including the value of all my good actions, past, present, and to come. I give thee the full right to dispose of me and all that belongs to me, without any reservations, in whatever way thou pleaseth, for the greater glory of God in time and throughout eternity.

Accept, gracious Virgin, the little offering of my slavery to honor and imitate the obedience which Eternal Wisdom willingly chose to have towards thee, His Mother. I wish to acknowledge the authority which both of thee have over this poor sinner. I wish also to thank God for the privileges bestowed on thee by the Blessed Trinity. I declare that for the future I will honor and obey thee in all things as thy true slave of love. O admirable Mother, present me to thy dear Son as His slave now and for always, so that He who redeemed me through thee, will now receive me through thee.

Mother of mercy, grant me the favor of obtaining the true Wisdom of God, and so make me one of those whom thou lovest, teachest and guidest, whom thou nourishest, and protectest as thy children and slaves.

Virgin most faithful, make me in everything so committed a disciple, imitator, and slave of Jesus, thy Son, incarnate Wisdom, that I may become, through thine intercession and example, fully mature with the fullness which Jesus possessed on earth, and with the fullness of His glory in heaven. Amen.

Rosary Crusade for Life

Throughout the world people are bringing rosaries to priests for a special blessing with the intention of saving unborn children. Ask your priest to give your rosaries this blessing, ideally by placing the rosaries on the altar at the end of the Mass.

Eternal Father, through Thy beloved Son, Jesus Christ, Our Lord, in the Unity of the Holy Spirit, and through the intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and all the Angels and Saints, I ask that these rosaries presented on Thy sacred altar in the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass may obtain for those who use them this grace: that with each bead that passes through their fingers, a child may be saved from the act of abortion.

Ecclesiastical PermissionMost Reverend William MurphyVicar GeneralArchdiocese of BostonNovember 23, 1998

Pray the rosary daily and ask others to join you. If God grants this request, you will save fifty-nine lives for each rosary.

Whatever God’s plan may be, your prayers will help the unborn.
